BT Worries About the Media

[Archived in Entry]

[WNN Europe] That’s hardly a solution. It’s better for users to know the risks so they can do their best to protect themselves, rather than start using Wi-Fi blind to the risks. The threat of less usage due to security concerns can also spur the industry to improve security. BT’s reaction to the hysterical stories that may exaggerate the problems should be to help set the record straight, not try to suppress all coverage of the topic.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Stromata.typepad.com] Stromata Blog: December 2004: Today we see very similar, if not identical, developments among the blue state elite: the same tendencies to exaggerate conflicts with their countrymen into grounds for separation and to grow steadily more extreme in supporting practices - abortion is the clearest example - that the “enemy” dislikes. So far, gabble about secession is only a pose, but the disproportionate and irrational rejection of “red state values” shows itself in other ways, particularly in much of the Left’s sullen attitude toward the War on Terror. Macaulay’s verses referring to the last days of Republican Rome could be prophetic for America:

[Stromata.typepad.com] Stromata Blog: September 2004: Senator Kerry’s allies don’t really think so. If capturing Osama were indeed central to suppressing terrorism, telling Pakistan “to drop everything else and bag this guy” would hardly be open to criticism. Al Hunt’s sneer is based on the contradictory assumption that the Pakistanis have more important things to do, which is certainly correct. (For the record, Mr.

The report recycles lots of figures and arguments from other sources, including the familiar “here’s a bunch of failed municipal broadband projects,” which actually aren’t failures (see earlier post today on the Free Press’s report) and which often involve vast investments for fiber-optic cabling which doesn’t figure in here.
