[Connected Internet - Broadband, Mobile and Gaming News Blog] I've just come out of a meeting where the wi-fi service I was hoping to use wasn't working. It made me wonder - how easy is it to find a ... [

[Fernham] Writing in Public: Many days, I marvel that my life passes as I move from one windowless closet, through a tunnel, to another windowless closet. Is it any wonder, then, that I spend whatever writing time I can writing and reading in public? In A Room of Ones Own and Jacobs Room, Woolf wrote about the oppressive atmosphere of the British Library, with its vast dome encircled by a band of seventeen male names.
[The Pondering Primate] Can't We All Get Along?: Could I have one phone that functions at home/office through my broadband (Wi-Fi), and when I become mobile I use the cell tower AND Wi-Fi hotspots? Is there technology that would allow my cell phone to be continuously looking for the best and fastest signal? Could you have broadband for mobile apps and calls never get dropped?
[Desmerizing] SNICKERDOODLE COFFEE: A little background: Tilden - you'll know him from the recent wedding photo that was posted here - would always bring back Snickerdoodle flavored coffee from Philadelphia - he'd bring it to the office and we would all rejoice. However, that's a long commute when you run OUT of snickerdoodle coffee.
[Darla Mack] Cellular Carriers Considering VoIP: Speaking at a press conference at 2004s 3GSM World Congress, T-Mobile Chief Executive Rene Obermann said, "We are creating one multi-speed, multimedia network; integrating 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi." He added that the eventual goal is "total seamlessness" between the technologies.
[Smartconvergence.blogspot.com] Smart Convergence: According to industry analyst firm InStat, shipments of Wi-Fi enabled cellular handsets are expected to reach approximately 22 million in 2009, and dual cellular/WLAN voice handsets are expected to reach nearly 90 million for the same time period. "The availability of devices such as Conexant's ultra low-power CX3110X is key to driving the growth of handsets and smart phones with integrated wireless networking capabilities," said Allen Nogee, principal analyst for InStat. "Conexant's expertise in WLAN and VoIP technologies makes them particularly well positioned to capitalize on this growing market opportunity."
[Site-9.com] Site-9 Weblog: Providing Hotspots for free, while still being ...: So if there is a business model for Wi-Fi services in public places, like cafes, that's probably it: keep the running costs as low as possible, provide the service for free, tell everyone about it and recoup the investment with additional sales. Jupiter's Joseph Laszlo talked about a very good example for this on his weblog yesterday.

[Antipixel.com] Antipixel | Blog | Buddy, can you spare a hotspot?: It doesn't need to happen that way. If a business already has broadband flowing in, distributing it over wifi for free costs them another US$50 or so for the AP. They can try to make that into a profit center, but the additional cost of setting up a billing system raises the break-even point considerably.
[Home.wangjianshuo.com] Wifi Hotspot Competion Becomes Hot: Would you be interested in starting a WiFi section, Jianshuo? WLAN Internet access is very useful for business travellers (who are part of your blog's audience) & it's most likely they'll find related, user experience info beneficial.
