White Blogs: What's notable about this article is that US franchisees are traveling abroad to hook up to franchise scenes in countries like Australia, Canada, and Japan. There's been a flood of foreign franchise concepts into the US, including refilling ink-jet and laser cartridges, exotic food restaurants, and pet training and grooming services. (via Cosmos)
KyleM.xwell: My boss tipped me off to Pollo Campero, a great place for Guatemalan chicken. There’s evidently only one in the Dallas area, which is a bummer as it’s a little more of a drive than I’d like for fast food (think KFC but from Central America, not Appalachia). (via Cosmos)
[Stargeek.com] Blosxoms, Bryars and Blikis: Unfortunately, this may be taken by some as an Apple bashing post, butit's surprising to find out that the fancy new iMacs everyone istalking about don't include built-in WiFi, but are simply WiFi"ready." Apple has been such a big proponent of WiFi with theirAirport offerings that it just seems strange that this offeringwouldn't also include WiFi -- especially as it would cut down on onemore design-unfriendly wire sticking out of the machine. The articlealso complains about Apple's failure to include a TV-tuner card withTiVo like qualities.
[Dickwray.com] Executive Recruiting for the food service industry: The first franchised branch of the Guatemalan-based POLLO CAMPERO quick-service chicken chain as well as its first in the Chicago market was opened by LEVY FAMILY PARTNERS, the investment division of Chicago-based LEVY RESTAURANTS. Levy bought the rights to open 50 units in Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida from the 33-year-old chain, which operates or franchises some 200 restaurants in Central America and Mexico.
[Dc.metblogs.com] Metroblogging DC: So, there you are -- at least 100 buses full of NYC activists unloading downtown in all their hipster glory. If you're interested, here's some detail: anti-war march, globalization feeder march.
